Ziff Davis’ Enterprise Group Landing With Quadrangle?

By Rafat Ali - Thu 09 Nov 2006 12:54 PM PST

Rumor is that the enterprise division of the Ziff Davis, the trouble tech media company, has been sold to the media private equity firm Quadrangle Group....this is consistent with other reports coming out where the company would be sold in various pieces. Quadrangle had been circling around for a while, came close and then lost interest, but then came back again, from what I understand.
The enterprise group consists of magazine and sites such as eWeek, Baseline, and a bunch of other properties....
The announcement may come before Thanksgiving. I haven’t been able to confirm it, so take it as such.

Thanksgiving’s Over.  Why have Ziff and Quadrangle failed to announce this deal? In October several sources told me it would likely be a done deal by Thanksgiving. Is the deal still in place? Are they just finsihing up some paper work before announcing Quadrangle acquiring ZD Enterprise? Anyone have info?

The latest rumor within Ziff Davis is that the enterprise group sale fell through. Can anyone confirm this?

My sources within Ziff tell me they are 90 percent sure that the deal died because Ziff’s fourth quarter isn’t going so well.  In fact, the company had layoffs a few days before Christmas.
