Webcasting and Mobile “Enhancing” TV in Korea

By Jamie Poitra - Tue 18 Oct 2005 05:12 AM PST

[by Mike Butcher @ MIPCOM] Speaking at MIPCOM Yun-Joo Jung, CEO of Korean national broadcaster KBS, said that originally they thought webcasting over broadband would take away viewers from TV but this has not turned out to be the case. Rather, webcasting is “enhancing the power” of the content they already broadcast. In fact they now provide live streaming on their website of TV which also includes radio shows where you can watch the DJ live. The big topic in Korean TV is now Terrestrial Digital Mobile Broadcasting or TDMB, over mobiles. It’s thought that in Korea, in the future, the main channel for advertising to the youth market will be TDMB.
