Verizon and AT&T are shoring up their programming experiments to meet local interests. Verizon FiOS subscribers in the Washington, DC area will have an outlet for viewing user-generated videos. The company will include a local TV channel as as part of its fiber-delivered package of TV programming, rolling out in Maryland this month, Frank Barnako reports on his blog. Its telco rival AT&T meanwhile unveiled a carriage deal Thursday with New England Sports Network, a regional group of cable TV stations owned by the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. AT&T will provide NESN’s sports programming to U-verse TV subscribers in New Haven and Hartford, Conn, Multichannel News reports.
