UK Industry Moves: Waldman Upped At Guardian; NatGeo New Media Head; WaBo UK Digital

-- A long overdue move: Guardian Unlimited‘s director of digital publishing Simon Waldman has been promoted: he’s now director of digital strategy and development for the whole Guardian Media Group. Guardian Media CEO Carolyn McCall said Waldman had “shown extraordinary prescience in assessing the digital challenges and opportunities ahead.” Waldman will lead digital strategy across GMG including regional newspapers, radio, classified advertising sites and joint ventures including the Fish4 advertising network.
-- National Geographic Television International has appointed Sandra Brown to the new role of UK head of business development for digital media. Brown was formerly at Hutchison 3G since 2000 and will be charged with developing content strategy for mobile, video-on-demand and broadband services. -- Warner Bros has expanded the remit of Christopher Law, its MD for UK TV programme sales, to include digital distribution as the company plans to push its TV content to broadband and mobile services.
