Speculation Rife on FT’s Potential Sale

By Rafat Ali - Thu 18 Jan 2007 08:35 PM PST

Lots of speculation in the UK market earlier today about Financial Times and its parent Pearson finally being put up for sale, though the origin of the report is UK’s The Business, and is very speculative. The value of the now profitable FT and its website is to be put up for sale at around $1.3 billion, says this story.
Possible suitors of FT alone: Rupert Murdoch, has made no secret of his desire to own what he regards as an international publishing brand. Germany’s Axel Springer and New York Times and Dow Jones publishing groups are also expected to show an interest.
