Social Gaming Firm Bunchball Gets $2 Million Funding

Bunchball, a social gaming firm which allows casual Flash-based games to be embedded in blogs and other personal services, has received $2 million in first round funding. The round for the Bay Area-based startup was led by Granite Ventures and Adobe Ventures. The company previously riased a small angel round. CEO Rajat Paharia is the former co-director of the Software Experiences Practice at IDEO.
The idea is to create casual networked Flash-based games which can be embedded into blogs and other websites. Among the business models, Bunchball could shows ads in and around games, and splits the revenue with host sites.
Besides open syndication, the company is also close to launch with a women’s TV network that will be featuring several of its games on their site starting in early November.
