Sling Media Announces First Major Mobile Deal; Will Be On Some 3 Group Handsets

Our European correspondent Peggy Anne Saltz has the details on a batch of deals announced today as 3 Group unveiled its mobile broadband service X-Series. One standout: Sling Media’s first announced major mobile deal—others are in the pipeline in Europe and, as Sling CEO Blake Krikorian said last week, in the U.S. The deal means certain X-Series handsets will come pre-loaded with SlingPlayer Mobile software that enables users to view home TV channels via mobile. The catch? It’s exclusive to users who buy an X-Series handset and a Slingbox.
