@ OPA London: The Buzz From Day One
By Rafat Ali - Thu 02 Mar 2006 12:04 PM PST
It feels buzzy again, even in Europe. The day one of the OPA Global Forum in London was packed, both with the audience and the programme. Some irrelevant observations:
-- There is something about the French...sometimes cliches are there for a reason. I’ll leave it at that.
-- Americans, when you’re on a panel in London, don’t use U.S. pop-culture shorthand...it is insulting to the people here.
-- We need more media entrepreneurs attending these online publishing conferences...just vendor startups are not enough.
-- Bernie Gershon (head of ABC News Digital Media Group) is definitely funnier than Steve Hayden (Vice Chairman, Ogilvy Worldwide), though Hayden can belt it out in case the audio fails.
-- If audio fails, I can’t help you..we only cover the online audio and video business...not a technology geek.
-- To everyone who gave shoutouts to us on the panels...thanks. All I can say is: Kaching...(well, not really, but it helps).
