News Corp In Talk With Online Ad Tech Firm?

By Rafat Ali - Mon 29 Jan 2007 09:42 PM PST

Hah...strange are the ways of tips. I heard about this possibly month or two ago, and I can’t remember who and how, and now Om reports that this might have some credence to it: Fox Interactive Media might be in talks to acquire Strategic Data Corp., a company based about eight blocks from where I live here in Santa Monica, in the same building as my hand therapy clinic (I have to still go for the finger I broke four months ago).
Anyway, SDC is an online ad tech optimization firm, and is headed by Richard Janssen, former co-founder and COO of Homestore. The company was founded in 1999 by Lee Cooper, professor of marketing at UCLA’s Anderson b-school and Giovanni Giuffrida, a doctoral candidate in computer science at the university. In the past it had investment from Smart Technology Ventures, J Net Venture Fund I, Constellation Ventures and a group of private investors through Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca and Fischer.
And these are just talks...nothing may come out of it.
