More on MarketWatch’s Possible Sale

By Rafat Ali - Thu 28 Oct 2004 02:10 PM PST

Some analysts weigh in on the possible MarketWatch sale (see the dedicated company section for more news on this): John Tinker, an analyst with ThinkEquity Partners, said that MarketWatch’s existing relationship with CBS News could mean that it makes sense for Viacom to buy out Pearson and the public.

Derek Reisfeld, who was head of new media for CBS in the 1990s, said: “If I were running Viacom, I would want to own this asset,” said Reisfeld. “It gives them a lot of content that they can use through their various traditional radio, TV and network distribution.”
