@ Mipcom: What’s Coming

By Jemima Kiss - Thu 12 Oct 2006 05:12 AM PST

Mipcom Cannes Oct 2006I’ve been flat out meeting people, listening to things and writing stuff and there’s loads more to come. For those of you that haven’t been to Mipcom, it is vast: 12,500 people and 4,200 companies from 98 countries. It’s really exciting to be at a conference that focuses on the creative side of this business and that makes the atmosphere here really special. I spoke to Martin Blakstad last night about Granada International’s new media plans - shortly before their suitably massive party where Ben Silvermann was cutting a rug to Madonna and DJ Norman Jay was asked to turn the music down, which was a bit odd. I spoke to Mark Selby, Nokia’s VP of multimedia this afternoon, plus had a superb session on user-generated content this morning with Google, MySpace, Heavy and Current TV. That and keynotes from George Bodenheimer of ESPN and Sanjiv Ahuja of Orange that there’s plenty to talk about. I’ll get it all to you as fast as my fingers can type and as fast as tonight’s six-hour trip back to London will allow me.
