Lycos Plans Switch From Ad Revenues To Subscriptions

In Europe, that is...Lycos US is up for sale, as you know.
Lycos Europe has recently launched a media platform to house its portal and home page, which will help push Lycos customers through to its subscription businesses. These include communications, shopping, Web hosting, chat and communities.
Lycos has ear-marked email as a core subscription business. It already offers a personal domain name and 1Gb of mail storage.
