John Wiley Acquires UK Travel Info Site Whatsonwhen

By Jemima Kiss - Thu 19 Oct 2006 06:12 AM PST

John Wiley & Sons has acquired the UK travel and entertainment site Whatsonwhen.com for an undisclosed amount. The site publishes a calendar of global cultural events, builds white-label travel sites and licences its event database information. The acquisition will bolster Wiley’s on and offline travel portfolio including the Unofficial Guides, Frommer’s and the For Dummies series. Wiley’s EVP Stephen Kippur described Whatsonwhen as a dynamic and scaleable technology platform: “Its unique and valuable content assets, expertise in site-building, and outstanding client roster will extend our ability to capture a greater share of burgeoning spending in online travel marketing, and will bring Wiley powerful new capabilities, which will be of interest to consumers and travel-related companies.” Release
