Feedster, one of the blog and RSS search engines, has received a venture investment from Japanese comglomerate Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The amount of investment was not disclosed. The company will use the money for global expansion.

Meanwhile, in addition with the investment, the founder and CEO Scott Rafer is being replaced, though no replacement has been names yet. A post on company blog says, “Feedster is no longer a start-up, but a fast growing, viable company that could benefit from a CEO who specializes in taking growth companies to the next level. The Board has begun an active search for Mr. Rafer’s replacement.”

Correction: Feedster was started in March of 2003 by Scott Johnson and Francois Schiettecatte, not Scott Rafer, as Johnson mentions in the comment.

Clickz: Mitsui has a history of working with U.S. based digital marketing firms and implementing their technologies in Japan. The company invested in Bigfoot Interactive in 2002, and used that firm’s technology for its own internal marketing efforts. In 2004 it launched a pay-per-click ad network using FindWhat’s private label service.
