Finding meaningful financial data about online in most media earnings is hard enough but it’s like looking for the missing smallest nesting doll in the set when you’re dealing with a company the size of General Electric (GE). It’s another reminder of far from material online ad revenue is for many  public companies. After a scant reference in the press release to leveraging content across all delivery platforms, NBCU’s digital mission got some time in the earnings spotlight via SVP and CFO Keith Sherin ‘s prepared remarks. Sherin: ”Our digital strategy, the NBC 360 really worked in the upfront. It helped to bring in $300 million of revenue as part of that upfront. iVillage is off to a great start.”
-- Chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt reiterated his projection that NBCU is on track to positively contribute to earnings in 2007.
-- Immelt on Nielsen commercial spot ratings: “Too soon to say, but I think it is inevitable. I think it is kind of the way we have done our own business planning. It comes back to you have to have good content, and that is what our business model has always been about.”
