As I mentioned yesterday, Elisabeth DeMarse, who is heading the new digital media rollup company DeMarseCo, backed by Austin Ventures, was here in Scottsdale at BSEC conference, and I chatted with her a bit about her new company. Even though her background (CEO of Bankrate and senior exec at Bloomberg) would suggest her investment company would be looking at information services, she said that may not necessarily be the only area..consumer Internet interests her as well. She mentioned public company recaps, founder recaps, division spinouts in the Internet media and information space.
She started working with Austin Ventures almost a year ago, and has already looked at a few major deal in the areas, and passed them up. This page on the company’s site also gives some interesting details.
