Dutch financial investor J.H.H. de Mol, the billionaire behind “Big Brother”, has acquired “five percent of the company’s share capital and voting rights,” Lycos said in a statement.
John de Mol is the co-founder and chief creative officer of television production company Endemol, whose “Big Brother” reality TV show was a global hit. Endemol, in turn, is controlled by Spanish telecoms firm Telefonica.
