Big Brother Founder Takes Stake in Lycos

Dutch financial investor J.H.H. de Mol, the billionaire behind “Big Brother”, has acquired “five percent of the company’s share capital and voting rights,” Lycos said in a statement.

John de Mol is the co-founder and chief creative officer of television production company Endemol, whose “Big Brother” reality TV show was a global hit. Endemol, in turn, is controlled by Spanish telecoms firm Telefonica.
