Both Techcrunch and NewTeeVee are reporting that Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) is buying Boston-based online video technology/service provider Maven Networks, for around $150 million. Maven provides high-res video technology/hosting/distribution for Gannett (NYSE: GCI), Hearst, Fox News, Sony (NYSE: SNE) BMG, the Financial Times, Univision, TV Guide, and others.

Maven raised about $30 million in funding from Prism Venture Partners, Accel Partners, and General Catalyst Partners. Jeremy Allaire, the founder of Brightcove, was the EIR on the Maven deal from General Catalyst’s side before he left to start his video firm.
