Yahoo Media Group Does Some Streamlining Of Execs; Moore Leading Video Efforts

By Rafat Ali - Wed 02 Apr 2008 04:00 PM PST

Yahoo Media Group has done some additional streamlining with its organization here in Santa Monica, under Scott Moore, who took over in December last year. The changes, from the memo send out by Moore:

-- The Entertainment group, under Karin Gilford, will now include Kids, Food and Astrology (the last one is now part of Shine, the woman’s portal Yahoo launched this week). Shine is part of Entertainment as well.
-- The Games group under Kyle Laughlin will move from Entertainment to report to Jimmy Pitaro.
-- Michael Yang’s portfolio will expand to include Health in addition to Autos and Real Estate...he will report to Mark Interrante. Yahoo Green will also move into Mark’s group.
-- Alan Warms (who came into Yahoo through the acquisition of Buzztracker) will pick up Education and Tech in addition to News

This comes the same day as Ian Rogers announced he was leaving Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO). From the memo: “It saddens me to let you know that Ian Rogers will be leaving Yahoo! to become CEO of Topspin Media...Topspin Media represents a great opportunity for Ian to pursue his dream of reinventing the music business.  I wish him the very best and look forward to future partnership opportunities with his new company. The music oriented elements of Ian’s group will be joined with Yahoo Music in Karin’s group. I will personally lead the Yahoo Video initiatives previously reporting to Ian.  I have tremendous passion for web video and I’m eager to dive in on the product and business strategy.”

Yahoo has an all-hands meeting in Santa Monica on April 15 and Sunnyvale on April 17, and more details would be explained to the team then, according to the memo.
