Yahoo Expands Newspaper Consortium; Now Up To 634 Papers

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 21 Feb 2008 02:26 PM PST

Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) has announced the addition of four publishers to its growing newspaper consortium. The new additions are Shaw Newspapers, The Buffalo News, The Times Publishing Company, and The Columbian Publishing Company. With the additions, the total number of participating papers, Yahoo claims, is up to 634, 425 of which are daily. The announcement states that Yahoo HotJobs has seen 50 percent year-over-year traffic growth, in part due to the newspaper partnerships. And the announcement also demonstrates that new papers are willing to join up, even in the face of uncertainty over Yahoo’s future. Full list of papers and other details in the release.
