WGA Seeks Separate Negotiations Wth Studios; Agreeement With Letterman Imminent

By Rafat Ali - Sun 16 Dec 2007 05:20 AM PST

Divide and rule, sort of: WGA will now try to negotiate with film and TV producers and studios individually after failing to reach agreement with AMPTP directly, as the Hollywood writers strike is about to enter its seventh week. Meanwhile, AMPTP said the union was “grasping at straws.”

Meanwhile, WGA might already have reached an agreement with David Letterman’s production company Worldwide Pants Incorporated, which could mean his late-night show on CBS (NYSE: CBS) to return to the air in early January, even if the strike is still continuing. Also, Jon Stewart of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central has also been urging an interim agreement and would begin working toward getting one in place on Monday morning, reports NYT.
