Wellocities Raises C$1 Million Seed Round for Health Management Social Net

Toronto-based Wellocities, a social network for for Canadians managing chronic health conditions, has raised a C$1 million (US$ $1.03 million) seed round from XDL Capital Group. The site was incubated out of XDL Capital last year. Currently, the site appears to just target Diabetes patients, offering blogs, a health monitor, doctor search and peer networking. In addition to patients, the company is looking to provide services to health professionals. Interim President Jonah Sigel is formerly of AOL (NYSE: TWX) Canada, while Chairman Dr. Alex Jada lead the creation of the Centre for Global Health Innovation. Release. (via Alarm:Clock)
