Visual Shopping Engine Like.com Raises $3.3 Million

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 31 Jan 2008 06:00 PM PST

San Mateo-based Like, an image-based comparative shopping engine, has raised $3.3 million from existing backers Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Venture Partners, Bay Partners and Leapfrog Ventures. The company originally raised $19 million, when it was known as Riya, and did more general image-based search. In particular, it focused on facial recognition to identify people in pictures. The site, which launched in 2004 with plenty of hype, was once thought to be acquisition bait for Google (NSDQ: GOOG). In its latest form, the company claims three million unique visitors per month, some of which is AdWords-driven.
