Video Dater WooMe Raises $12.5 Million Second Round

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 12 Jun 2008 08:41 PM PST

WooMe, a service that offers speed dating via internet video, has raised a $12 million second round led by Index Ventures. NewTeeVee first reported the news yesterday, VentureBeat confirmed it today, though it said the funding valued the company at $41 million, as opposed to the $30 million originally reported. This round follows about $5 million in previous funding, bringing its total raise to $17 million. Previous backers of the SF-based company include Mangrove Capital and Atomico. The basic idea: log into a session, hold a video chat with a few other folks, and then pick which ones “woos” you.
