Up Again: Activist’s Stake In NYTCo Inches Higher; Now At 11.82 Percent

By Joseph Weisenthal - Tue 19 Feb 2008 08:51 PM PST

It’s still not clear how the activist investors—Harbinger and its affiliates—agitating for changes at NYTCo (NYSE: NYT) are going to accomplish their goals. But in the meantime, they keep incrementally buying more stock in the company. The companies now own 16.89 million shares, or 11.82 percent of the company, according to a filing made today. Separately, Harbert Management (Harbinger’s parent) said it purchased another 525,000 shares on Thursday, at a price of $18.4 per share.
