Industry Moves: Television Without Pity Founding Trio Depart Site
By David Kaplan - Fri 07 Mar 2008 02:06 PM PST
Nearly a year after being bought by NBC Universal’s (NYSE: GE) Bravo Media, the three founders of Television Without Pity have decided to leave the site. In a note on the site, co-founders Tara Ariano, Sarah Bunting, and David Cole, say they’re departing Bravo Media, with plans to “pursue dreams and ambitions that will take them beyond TWoP.” The trio’s last day will be March 11. The site began its existence in 1998 and has operated under the motto: “spare the snark, spoil the networks.” Bravo had aligned TWoP with its Trio suite of websites related to its pop culture/cable TV property: BrilliantbutCancelled.com, getTRIO.com and OUTzoneTV.com.
-- Gawker: It’s probably not a coincidence that the founders’ exit was made a year after being bought by Bravo, as the acquisition terms may have stipulated that Ariano, Bunting and Cole stay on for at least a year after the deal’s close.
