SocialPicks, a site for retail investors to exchange investing strategies, has raised a $500,000 first round from Bay Partners, reports PE Hub. The Mountain View, CA-based site lets users create and share virtual online portfolios, while connecting with others that share a similar investing profile. It also has a Digg-like section for voting on stock ideas. Competitors include Wikinvest and StockPickr, which was acquired by TheStreet.com. The established financial portals, like MarketWatch and Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) Finance have been rolling out social applications as well.
