Sprint To Cut 4,000 Jobs; 125 Retail Outlets Being Closed

By David Kaplan - Fri 18 Jan 2008 07:28 AM PST

As expected, SprintNextel is cutting 4,000 jobs and shutting 8 percent of its stores as the company wrestles with increasing costs and subscriber losses. The move is designed to save Sprint (NYSE: S) between $700- and $800 million by the end of the year. The layoffs will hit both management and non-management. The employee reductions come on top of the 5,000 job cuts Sprint made last year. Also, of the 1,400 Sprint-owned retail outlets, about 125 will be closed down. The company will also be eliminating 4,000 distribution points at other stores. More details on our sister site, MocoNews.net, and in Sprint’s release.

Sprint customer service is horrible, especially if you need to speak with someone after seven pm. they have outsource their costomer service, there is a language barrier, you can’t understand the repsentative and they adhere strickly to the script. The cost of their service is outrageous, I have been overcharged several time, their representatives are rude and most time argumentative.
