Social Animation Company Gizmoz Secures $6.3 Million First Round

By David Kaplan - Thu 31 May 2007 01:26 PM PST

Gizmoz, which gives people ways to create personal digital reps like avatars, buddy icons and the like, has raised $6.3 million in first-round financing from Benchmark Capital and Columbia Capital. That makes a total of $10.3 million in funding - a few years ago, Gizmoz closed a $4 million angel round that was led by Jagen, with participation from Columbia Capital. The company, which has offices in Israel and in Menlo Park, plans to use the funds to expand its product development efforts and support its global expansion plans. At the same time, Gizmoz launched a new online service that lets users create animated 3D characters that can be used in video clips and other forms of original content. Release.
