Shopping Engine StyleFeeder Completes $2 Million First Round

By David Kaplan - Tue 29 Jan 2008 07:37 PM PST

Online shopping recommender StyleFeeder has raised a $2 million first round funding from Highland Capital Partners and Schooner Capital. The amount includes the $1 million the company raised in October. The Cambridge, MA-based company plans to use the proceeds to increase its staff. Aside from promoting itself through a Facebook widget, StyleFeeder has aligned itself with a number of celebrities, including the Olsen twins. Release

It must be almost time for Fashion Week, as social shopping engines have seen a lot of investment actively lately. For example, StyleHive raised some funding and bought StyleDiary last month. This past fall, ShopStyle was acquired by NBCU-backed Sugar Publishing and before that, Hearst bought Kaboodle in August. Also last summer, Los Angeles-based social net ThisNext raised an undisclosed amount of funding.
