Revolution Health Acquires HealthTalk; Takes Stake in SparkPeople

By Joseph Weisenthal - Wed 05 Dec 2007 05:10 AM PST

Steve Case’s Revolution Health has acquired HealthTalk, a health site with an emphasis on in-depth information on certain conditions. The company also said it has taken a stake in SparkPeople.com, a site offering free goal setting tools, for things like weight loss and exercise. It also offers community and social networking features. Founder and CEO Chris Downie founded the site in 2001, after leaving eBay; according to Alarm:Clock, Downie sold his own auction site Up4Sale to eBay (NSDQ: EBAY) just prior to its IPO. With the transactions, the Revolution Health Network, which includes the new sites along with Carepages.com and Drugstore.com, says it is the second largest health property on the internet with over 12 million unique users per month. Terms of neither deal were disclosed. Release.
