Our Year-End Panel & Mixer Tonight: Video Entertainment in 2008, and, Well, David Caruso

By Rafat Ali - Wed 05 Dec 2007 02:35 AM PST

LA Year-End Review PanelOur LA Year-End Review panel and ContentNext Mixer this evening at the WGA theater went very well....thanks to the panelists, sponsors and everyone who came.

The panel on digital video/entertainment in 2008 certainly touched on a lot of points, and we had a good discussion on the financing aspects, the changing talent management business, the advertising and metrics needs, and other issues. Thanks again to our speakers Steven Kram, Jon Miller, Jarl Mohn, Gregg Spiridellis, and Jason Nadler—and our moderator Brent Weinstein. We hope to have a video of the panel up soon.

And then this Twitter says it all: “Blown away that David Carruso from CSI Miami is sitting in front of me at the paidContent mixer.” Yep, true, except I have no photographic evidence to show y’all. Why was he there? You tell me…

Sponsors: Platinum: DeSilva & Phillips. Silver: PermissionTV, ExtendMedia, Kiptronic and Operative.

Who knows? Either he wanted to get out of his house or he was looking for a date (some people search for dates in the oddest of places) or he wants to start a THIRD CAREER as a writer...take your pick!

I spoke with Mr. Caruso, and he was there with some business partners because he is interested in digital media.  He didn’t divulge exactly what he’s working on, but it’s not surprising—we’ve had a number of inquiries at Revver from actors/writers/producers/directors who are interested in starting their own digital production entities.

P.S., the event was terrific, as usual.  Well done.  Brent is a great moderator.

Thank you. Like I said. Maybe he is looking ofr a third career. Caruso once owned a production company in the early nineties - however it was disolved in the late nineties.

Caruso is very much interested in the future of digital media.  He knows that’s where the industry will be exploding next.  And, he’s an infant in the knowledge; he’s looking to learn all he can.  Smart move on his part.
For a snarking stalker to even be commenting here is beyond ridiculous.

  • From Vixen Fri 07 Dec 2007 08:22 PM

And you know that because? I say Caruso should leave business matters to those people who know how to run one - but then it is never too late to look for a new career - even for someone like Caruso…

Hate to burst your bubble, Vixen, but David isn’t planning to consult with you about his business endeavors.

David is a progressive thinker (make a headline of that one, Vix).  He’s a neophyte to the web world but is fully aware of the potential.  Hope he’s a quick study.

What Samantha has said above about Caruso’s stalker is correct.  Vixen, one of her many Internet names, is an Austrian national who was indicted last summer for threatening and stalking David Caruso.  Our very own FBI assisted with her arrest. While awaiting trial in Austria, she is simultaneously posting on 3 other blogs where her mission is to bash, defame and slander David Caruso.  On one blog alone, she is using 11 different names to post denigrating comments about Caruso.

Her MO is very unique:  hijack Boards using multiple monikers and disparage David Caruso and CSI Miami.  The use of multiple identities is an illusion that this sick woman creates to make it look like she has an endless supply of people that share her opinions about Caruso.

Please fee free to email me at and I will be happy to furnish info on this very dangerous stalker.

    Vixen to Anonymous?  Who next?

Vixen always likes to have the last word, so you may have to delete all the comments.  She’s taken over several blogs before, forcing such action.  And, yes, David wants to be involved in the digital media.  He has a bit of free time right now to indulge this new interest.  Kuddos, David!  Kuddos on your story and your blog, paidContent.org and Kyle Laughlin.
