Online Sports Network Active Athlete Buys GolfBuzz

Online sports ad network and portal Active Athlete has acquired GolfBuzz, developers of publishing tools and technology for the golf community. Financial terms were not disclosed. Active Athlete was attracted to the social net’s varied array of tools, such as photo management and discovery utilities (a course finder, travel information); GolfBuzz also offers products and services including widgets and classifieds. Active Athlete plans to make the technology and tools available to the 180 sites within its network. San Francisco-based Active Athlete, which raised an unspecified amount of funding last spring, claims to attract 8.5 million monthly uniques. Release
