College Student Social Net RIPL Secures $4.25 Million Second Round

By David Kaplan - Tue 28 Aug 2007 03:41 PM PST

RIPL, a social net aimed at college-age demos, has raised $4.25 million in a second rounding funding from individual angel backers, PEHub reports, citing a regulatory filing. The Seattle-based community site, which also offers ad-supported music and photo sharing services, completed a $2 million first round in April. Aside from the music and photo tools, not much else has changed over the past few months at RIPL,whose CEO, Bill Messing, has held VP posts at United Online and Classmates.com. Access is still available only by invitation from students attending either the University of Washington or the University of Central Florida.
