More Details on HBO-iTunes: DVD Window; New Series Not Available; $2.99 Higher Pricing

We wrote yesterday about HBO’s plans to offer shows through Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) iTunes. The companies have now officially announced the details and some other unofficial ones:

-- In another departure from rival TV deals that iTunes has, episodes will not be available for purchase until they hit the DVD window.
-- Earliest to go on iTunes: Sex and the City, The Sopranos and Deadwood.
-- What won’t go on now: new episodes of series would not be available until months after they premiere on TV. This is in keeping with is cable and VOD subscribers first startegy it has followed all along.
-- Pricing details: Episodes of The Sopranos, Deadwood and Rome will be $2.99. The Wire, Sex and the City and Flight Of The Conchords are for $1.99 per episode.
-- iTunes customers can also choose to purchase entire seasons of the programs.
