Microsoft To Announce Something At Some Point; Maybe Tomorrow, Maybe Monday

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 01 May 2008 01:50 PM PST

After yesterday’s big nothing, Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) is set to announce its next move at some point. When? Probably not today. Despite reports that it might happen, CNBC’s Jim Goldman says pre-market tomorrow is a possibility. It might also wait until Monday, though an announcement tomorrow would be in keeping with Microsoft’s promise to have an answer this week. Yesterday, it looked like the board was close to deciding something, as it floated the idea of a raised bid through the Wall Street Journal. Who knows whether they got the answer they were looking for: there’s one Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) shareholder that would mind a raised bid.

Meanwhile, CEO Steve Ballmer told his troops that the company would announce something in “short order.” (via SAI) You’d hope.
