Microsoft Releases Would-Be Directors From Unfought Proxy Fight

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 08 May 2008 02:35 PM PST

Just to drive home the point that Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) is done with Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO), the company has relieved its ten would-be directors from their duties, according to WSJ. This morning, the directors (whose names were never officially announced though lists have been reported) received emails telling them their services will not be needed. Mainly symbolic, but then again, if Microsoft-Yahoo were to consummate at some point down the future, it would probably be as a result of Yahoo crawling back, not a hostile fight—so either way, there’s no need for Microsoft to keep its own slate.
