iTunes’ Rental Library Falls Far Short Of 1,000 Mark; Only 400 Titles Currently Available

By David Kaplan - Mon 03 Mar 2008 05:23 PM PST

At Apple’s (NSDQ: AAPL) Macworld event in mid-January, Steve Jobs unveiled iTunes movie rental downloads with the promise that the service would offer 1,000 titles by the end of February. Well, February’s over and as News.com points out (via Macworld), iTunes has only 399 movies available for download on Mac computers (only 351 can be accessed through Apple TV). Granted, the service is still fairly new. But with Netflix’s (NSDQ: NFLX) roughly 6,000 movies available for PC downloads, Apple’s got a ways to go. If it can’t add substantially add to its iTunes rental library quickly, users might eventually get tired of waiting.
