Industry Moves: Ziff Davis Media Brings Back Tech Marketing Exec Weedfald As President

Ziff Davis Media, having just wrapped up its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, can now get back to the business of running a struggling tech publishing company. To help right things, ZDM has brought back long-ago alum Peter Weedfald as president. Most recently, Weedfald was SVP, CMO of Circuit City; before that, he held the same title at Samsung. He spent about nine years at ZDM, holding a variety of sales exec posts at PC Magazine as well as several other titles. After he left ZDM back in the 1980s, Weedfald was publisher at rival IDG’s Computerworld.
The ZDM Weedfald departed way back when was a different entity; there are currently two other separate companies operating under the “Ziff Davis” banner: Ziff Davis Enterprise, which publishes Baseline, CIO Insight and eWEEK and Cnet’s ZDnet.com. ZDE was sold by ZDM to PE firm Insight Venture Partners last June for about $160 million. In addition to PC Magazine, ZDM publishes Electronic Gaming Monthly and runs industry events like DigitalLife and the Electronic Gaming Summit.
