Industry Moves: Visa’s Raj Joins Omnicom As OMD’s Chief Digital Officer

By David Kaplan - Tue 04 Mar 2008 10:04 AM PST

Jon Raj has been tapped as chief digital officer of Omnicom Group’s media agency OMD USA, MediaPost reported. The hiring of Raj, who was VP of advertising and emerging media platforms at credit card company Visa, is part of a larger digital restructuring taking place at the agency since the departure of Sean Finnegan as CEO of Omnicom’s in-house interactive unit OMG at the end of January. The agency said its goal was to “position digital at the core of all media strategy.”

Raj succeeds Scott Hagedorn, who was moved up to managing director of OMD East as part of Omnicom’s intention to put executives with greater digital experience at the head of its full-service media shops. Hagedorn was promoted from the post he took last July after Finnegan left the company. Before his stint at Visa, Raj worked at several agencies, including Saatchi & Saatchi, Ketchum, CKS and Tonic360 (which is now part of JWT).
