Industry Moves: Viacom; Oxygen; Ascent Media; IODA

-- Viacom: MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA) and BET have promoted Melody Tan to SVP for strategy and business operations in the Content Distribution and Marketing unit. Tan previously served as VP in that CDM area. She will continue report to Denise Dahldorf, EVP, CDM, which serves as a bridge between MTVN and BET. Before coming to MTVN, Tan worked as a growth strategy consultant for Mercer Management Consulting.

-- Oxygen: Susan Malfa, VP of sales for Bravo since 2007, has been promoted to SVP, adding management of Oxygen ad sales to her current responsibilities, effective immediately. She will continue to co-report to Steve Mandala, EVP of cable ad sales for NBC Universal (NYSE: GE), and Lauren Zalaznick, president of Bravo Media and Oxygen Media. In her new role, she will be responsible for all of Bravo and Oxygen’s ad sales efforts, across all platforms, developing multi-platform marketing initiatives across the two networks.

-- Ascent Media Group: The company has appointed Stephen Lyons as SVP-business development; he’ll lead efforts to bring buyers and sellers to Ascent’s new Global Media Exchange platform. He was previously SVP-business development at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Release.

-- IODA:  Ted Kartzman has joined the Independent6 Distribution Online Alliance as VP-client services.  Most recently, he was director of independent labels business for RealNetworks’ (NSDQ: RNWK) Rhapsody.
