Media Rights Capital: The LA-based movie and digital content financing firm Media Rights Capital has hired Marni Wieshofer as SVP, Corporate Development and M&A. Wieshofer joins from Lionsgate, where she most recently had been EVP of corporate development and before that was CFO. MRC is currently underwriting a slate of features featuring talent like Sacha Baron Cohen and Cameron Diaz. It now wants to seek out opportunities to self-distribute, this Variety story says. Potential acquisition targets include film distribution companies, TV and cable outlets and digital platforms.

EMI: EMI Music UK chair and CEO Tony Wadsworth is stepping down ahead of a new restructuring plan. North American chief Roger Ames will now take up A&R responsibilities for the UK and Ireland, Mike Clasper gets a beefed-up role as well, FT.com reports, adding Wadsworth - who took the role in 2002 and spent nearly 25 years with EMI - was seen as one of the old guard.

Hachette-Sirius: Sirius Satellite Radio (NSDQ: SIRI) has hired Paul Turcotte as SVP, ad sales. Turcotte is leaving his post as head of Hachette Filipacchi’s ad sales department after less than a year, AdAge reports. Turcotte’s last day at Hachette is Jan. 15. He was promoted in March to SVP, corporate sales and marketing. Before that, he had been VP/publisher of the Hachette Entertainment Group, and previously had been publisher at titles including Men’s Health and Yahoo Internet Life.

Gannett: Sue Clark-Johnson is stepping down as president of Gannett’s Newspaper Division in late May. She’s retiring after 40 years at Gannett (NYSE: GCI), where she worked as a reporter, editor, publisher and senior executive. No word on who will succeed her. Separately, Clark-Johnson’s term as president of the Newspaper Association of American ends in April. Release
