Industry Moves: RNWK: O’Neil New SVP-Digital Music; Sheeran Moves To SVP, Corp. Partnerships/BizDev

By Staci D. Kramer - Mon 26 Feb 2007 04:47 PM PST

A couple of high-level changes at RealNetworks ... Philip W. O’Neil, most recently COO for Vivendi Universal Games, has joined the company as SVP-digital music. No music background but he does have a strong resume when it comes to multinational consumer goods and entertainment companies. The announcement stresses his role at Vivendi Universal, including P&L responsibility for the $700 million gaming business in North America and Europe, and his involvement in the online subscription hit World of Warcraft.
At the same time, RNWK vet Dan Sheeran moves from music after two years to a new job—SVP-corporate partnerships and business development. The job description says it all.
O’Neil is already at the company and the transition, expected to take several weeks, is underway. Release.
Update: It looks like RNWK Chairman and CEO Rob Glaser isn’t finished filling the SVP ranks. A reader just forwarded a detailed job description for an SVP-strategy who “will drive the Company’s strategic planning and corporate development processes ... This individual will play a key role in leading and negotiating all key transactions.”
