Industry Moves: Mehta (Officially) Joins NBCU; President-Business Operations, Strategy, Development

By Staci D. Kramer - Tue 05 Feb 2008 07:37 AM PST

As we told you back in November, ESPN/Disney vet Salil Mehta is the new head of biz dev for NBC Universal (NYSE: GE). The official title: president, business operations, strategy and development. He will be responsible “for leading NBCU’s global business strategy and corporate development activities, including identifying industry trends and investment opportunities and continuing to shift the company’s portfolio toward high-growth areas.”

Mehta, who most recently was EVP-ESPN (NYSE: DIS) Enterprises, was picked by NBCU chief Jeff Zucker last summer but contractually had to remain at Disney until early this year; he was moved out of ESPN offices to wait it out.
