Updated: Industry Moves: Betty Cohen Resigns From Lifetime; Andrea Wong New President and CEO

By Staci D. Kramer - Thu 26 Apr 2007 08:30 AM PST

Betty Cohen is out as president and CEO of Lifetime Entertainment Services Wednesday, a day after what I gather was one of the network’s most successful upfronts. It certainly was the most detailed and ambitious from the digital end, closer to what I expected when Cohen came on board two years ago. No replacement announced yet. Lifetime is owned 50-50 by Disney (NYSE: DIS) and Hearst.

Update: ABC vet Andrea Wong was just announced as the new president and CEO of Lifetime. Wong most recently was EVP- Alternative Programming, Specials and Late-Night, ABC Entertainment, meaning she comes directly from Anne Sweeney’s Disney-ABC Television Group.
Wong’s responsibilities include day-to-day operations for Lifetime Television, LMN, Lifetime Real Women and Lifetime Digital (including LifetimeTV.com)—essentially the whole kit and caboodle. Wong brought Dancing to the Stars to the U.S., among other unscripted programs. She joined ABC in 1993 as a researcher. Not at all sure yet what this means to digital.
