ImageSpan Raises $11 Million Second Round For Content Licensing; Bertelsmann Leads

ImageSpan, a company that enables digital content licensing, has raised an $11 million second round led by Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments. Past backers Greycroft Partners and Village Ventures also participated, along with New York City Investment Fund, City Lights Capital Management and Ackerley Partners LLC. The Sausalito, CA-based company raised an unspecified first round last year. The company’s Licenstream product handles multiple aspects of the content licensing and billing process, including rights, permissions, pricing and lead gen. It also has a video sourcing product, allowing advertisers to find video creators for projects. Customers include Sports Illustrated, Takkle.com and Dealer.com, a provider of website services for auto dealers.
