Google Reaches News Deal In UK?

By Rafat Ali - Sun 20 May 2007 02:57 PM PST

Not really sure what to make of this report in Sunday Herald in UK...it says Google has reached deals with several large UK news groups over carrying their content on Google News...meaning it is paying the content providers on the lines of its recent settlement with AFP. Also, Google lost a case against the Belgian press in February. More as we find out more.

This might be relevant. As reported in The Sunday Times:

“Along with Eric Schmidt, [senior vice-president for global sales and business development] Omid Kordestani will be back in Britain again tomorrow to attend Zeitgeist, the company’s annual gathering to discuss technology trends with industry leaders. This year’s participants include WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell, BSkyB’s James Murdoch, the BBC’s Mark Thompson and David Miliband, the environment secretary.”

I know at least one other major magazine publisher is attending.
