Gannett is shaking up its digital side, naming Chris Saridakis SVP and chief digital officer and shifting Jack Williams. Saridakis moves over from his post as CEO of PointRoll, an online ad company which Gannett bought for $100 million in June 2005. Jason Tafler succeeds Saridakis as CEO of PointRoll; he was SVP-Global Business Operations & Strategy for PointRoll.
Williams, who has been president of Gannett Digital since early 2006, now will serve as president of Gannett Digital Ventures, responsible for Gannett’s online classified companies, including CareerBuilder, Classified Ventures, Topix.net and ShopLocal. He’ll also continue to handle other non-online businesses such as Gannett Healthcare. Saridakis will become a member of the Gannett Management Committee and report to Craig Dubow, the publisher’s chairman, president and CEO; Williams will continue to be part of the GMC and will still report directly to Dubow as well. Additionally, both will be in charge of seeking out digital investments and acquisitions for Gannett (NYSE: GCI).
Saridakis became CEO of PointRoll in 2005 after two years as COO. Before that, he was SVP/GM of the Global TechSolutions group at DoubleClick. Saridakis has also held executive posts at Reuters America and at Lehman Brothers. More details in release.
