FIM’s Photobucket, Google’s Picasa Will Deliver Photos Over TiVo; Some In Full HD

By Staci D. Kramer - Mon 03 Dec 2007 06:30 AM PST

Another step toward meshing video and photos on TV ... TiVo (NSDQ: TIVO) subscribers with broadband-connected DVRs will be able to access and share photos from Photobucket, owned by FIM, (NYSE: NWS) and Picasa Web Albums by Google. Images will be shown at highest res possible, which means full HD from Series3 and TiVo HD. No extra charge beyond the TiVo sub fee for the service, which is yet another of TiVo’s efforts to take its set-tops beyond DVR to home media hub. In addition to sharing with friends and family, users will be able to tap into community photos via keyword searches. One potential flaw for the remote-challenged—this is all controlled via TiVo’s remote.
