Elsevier Buys Healthcare Publisher Windhover To Bolster E-Health Strategy

Amsterdam-based science publisher Elsevier is buying healthcare information and commentary provider Windhover of Philadelphia for an undisclosed sum. The publisher, a division of Anglo-Dutch Reed Elsevier (NYSE: RUK), said the acquisition will support its “e-health strategy to improve patient healthcare and the business of health in the pharma business intelligence market”. Elsevier’s own operation includes Science Direct and MDConsult. Windhover publishes a health biz transaction database and journals including In Vivo, and has a worldwide team of 100 journalists.
